ABOUT US

The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) has always been about the people of the twin-island Federation.

Formed in 1932, out of the St. Kitts-Nevis Workers League, the organisation was built to give ordinary people a voice and has sought power in order to improve their lives.

The results of this work has changed St. Kitts and Nevis for the better, through the most progressive government structure, policies and leadership in our country’s history.

From 1946 until 1978, the party, then known as the St. Kitts-Nevis Workers League, was led by the His Excellency Robert Bradshaw; who is familiarly known as the ‘Father of SKN’.

Following a host of successful general elections, the party was renamed in 1966 to the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Labour Party.

After Anguilla’s recession in 1980, the party was renamed again, to its current name, SKNLP.

The SKNLP boasts of a very proud history, with tremendous achievements – from the availability of housing to educational advancements that have made lasting differences in the lives of people across our country.

The SKNLP has always been the party of the MANY, not the few.

85 years after, the party remains a democratic, socialist organisation, dedicated to building a better, stronger Federation.

Our Labour Party Government has been at the forefront of raising local persons out of poverty, following the collapse of the sugar industry.

In every area of life, be it health or education, housing or agriculture, tourism or finance or security and policing—the Labour Party, in conjunction with a Labour-led government, have made significant contribution and improvements.

The party was also instrumental in stabilizing the Federation’s economy; catapulting St. Kitts and Nevis to envious levels in the region and internationally.
